Project need

NY Renews seeks a website designer to create and implement a realizable, low-budget plan to add a news feed and events updates to NYRenews home page. Since launching in December 2015, NY Renews has developed a policy platform and game-changing state legislation that would catalyze a fair and inclusive transition to a 100% clean energy economy. The Climate and Community Protection Act (CCPA), the first of two bills crafted by the coalition, is now on track to pass the state legislature in 2019. We need our website to reflect the fabulous press we are getting at this crucial time (Washington Post, NY Times, The Nation, etc) and to better reflect the dynamic, hopeful and fast-moving campaign we are implementing. We already have a basic website (www.nyrenews.org) as well as Facebook and Twitter pages. We have designated a small committee of 3-4 people who will oversee this work.

Organization's mission

NY Renews is a multi-sector coalition creating a path to a just, clean energy economy in New York State. Emerging from the energy and momentum of the 2014 People’s Climate March, the coalition unites over 170 environmental justice; labor; faith; business; agriculture; health; policy advocacy; environmental and, community and economic development organizations representing every region of New York. Since launching in December 2015, NY Renews has developed a policy platform and game-changing legislation that would catalyze a fair and inclusive transition to a 100% clean energy economy. Our goals are to:
 Power NY State with 100% clean energy by 2050;
 Increase economic justice in the transition to a clean energy economy;
 Generate support for low-income communities with revenue generated by a fee to polluters.

The Climate and Community Protection Act (CCPA), the first of two bills crafted by the coalition, is on track to pass the state legislature in 2019. For three consecutive years, the CCPA has passed the Assembly by wide margins. Now, this groundbreaking bill has the support of the leaders and majority of legislators in both houses. In these final months of the 2019 legislative session, NY Renews is organizing in support of the CCPA and the resulting transformation of New York’s economy to one that is more just, safe and environmentally sustainable.
