We would like to a find skilled HR person, possibly near Washington DC, who will be able to help us locate a voluntary skilled leader & administrator ("LA"), near or in Washington DC, for our not-for-profit.

This LA would be able to:
+ add to the motivation of our two board members in Washington and one in New York
+ liaise with our LA in the UK, who responsive & helpful
+ help write occasional funding proposals
+ complete annual tax filings
+ shape the role as it evolves, which will involve visiting Ethiopia Global MapAid is registered in the USA and the UK having been started at Stanford in 2003.

Currently it is working in Ethiopia, with our partners, the Institute of Water Technology at the University of Arba Minch, 400Kms south of Addis Ababa. We provide pin-point guidance on where to sink shallow bore holes, so that donors have technical comfort when it comes to investing, in other words they invest on the basis of scientific study.

In Ethiopia, there is unseen hunger, affecting over 40% of the population, as direct result of climate change induced drought. This means crops fail. One vital answer is to research and develop better understanding where shallow bore holes can be drilled, so that they are not too close together, and so the water they supply is sustainable, because the science of underground water flows has been well understood.

Global MapAid makes maps that conveys the guidance, in an easily understood format, for time-poor, context-poor, intelligent donors.

With good science, we can push the drilling success rate from 50% (with little information) up to 80% (with our information on maps).

Ultimately this means more people are reached, more effectively and precious aid money is saved and made to stretch further.

So, in the UK, we have been building a fundraising effort, but at the same time we want to do the same in the USA. We have been developing our ideas with the Institute of Water Technology at the University of Arba Minch since 2016, although our people have been working in Ethiopia since 2011. We have a Memorandum of Understanding with the University, in which they pledge to donate considerable resources to the project, such as free work space, free consultancy time, data, and the vital social capital & introductions necessary to get things moving.
