Project Overview

An author/activist needs the assistance of a PR professional to notify the media about a very important and time-sensitive story concerning the COVID-19 outbreak. The PR pro should be willing to help edit and shape a draft press release which will be provided, make suggestions where the release should be sent, help identify the right journalists to pitch and generally support and advise on PR strategy.

The PR pro will deal directly with the project sponsor. He/she must be ready to schedule the interview call and start work right away if accepted. He/she must not be afraid to be involved with a big, controversial story.
Details about the story will be shared during the phone interview.

This is not a learn-on-the-job project. Only experienced, professional PR people should apply.

Nonprofit Overview

Free World Associates is a 30-year old unincorporated network of human rights and democracy promotion activists. Our mission is to promote global peace and economic development by helping closed societies become more democratic, transparent and accountable. We are working with Taproot on 3 projects:

1. "Money, Blood and Conscience" is a novel that aims to bring to public attention Ethiopia’s human rights crisis. A for-profit social enterprise, proceeds will support our pro bono democracy promotion work.

2. Operation Conscience is a social impact campaign to raise awareness of genocides committed by the Ethiopian government.

3. World Liberation Radio aims to test if the basic ideas of nonviolence can be taught to oppressed populations around the world by radio. It is fiscally sponsored by the Social Good Fund, Inc., a 501c3.
