We are inviting a few talented marketing and branding experts to help Berkeley Humane develop a marketing strategy and branding guide to help launch our new retail Thrift Shop. The strategy will complement the current marketing efforts of our organization and will have the ability to leverage our existing resources, donor base, and online/digital expertise. Most importantly, the work will ultimately save the lives of shelter animals in the Bay Area.
The COVID-19 crisis has disrupted charitable fundraising and as a direct result could soon threaten Berkeley Humane’s ability to save lives. While we had been considering opening a new Thrift Shop before the crisis, it is now apparent that the need to diversify our revenue is critical to generate additional resources, increase visibility, provide new volunteer opportunities, and create broader community engagement. We have many of the elements falling into place to make this dream a reality, however, we recognize success will be difficult without a clear marketing strategy.
We have a volunteer steering committee and a marketing staff person who is involved with the planning details of the new retail operation. We are currently in negotiations for our preferred location, but nothing has been settled so we do have some flexibility with the timeline. We are committed to executing the new marketing strategy once it is finalized.
Berkeley Humane serves the people and animals of our community by providing life-saving programs for cats and dogs, cultivating compassion, and strengthening the human-animal bond.
