Project Overview

Are you looking for an outlet to apply your professional skills to a great cause? Do you have a way with organizing web content to optimize visitor retention? Do you enjoy creating compelling copy? Or, have you taken a look at our website (www.theharvestfund.org) and devised a number of suggestions to improve the website? If so, then this is the right role for you to review our audience personas and apply your website architecture and design experience. Please note that we are open to volunteers from all types of backgrounds who are willing to innovate.

The volunteer will be able to successfully: (1) Review the current messaging documents and audience analysis and fundraising strategy (2) Leverage the brand copy suggestions to transition our website copy into something less technical and more emotionally uplifting and inspirational (3) Conduct an inventory of the current website and identify gaps in content (4) Working within the limitations of the Strikingly website builder, suggest new webpage layouts or addition of new webpages (5) Recommend other strategies to improve website attention organically. We are flexible with how long the project can take depending on the availability of the volunteer; for example, if the volunteer can finish it in one week, then we will work alongside the volunteer daily but are also open to 2-3 month projects.

We launched our pilot program in September 2019 in Kafue, Zambia so we are a very young but fast-moving organization. We've already linked 200 women farmers with innovative agricultural technologies and their families are on their way to escaping perpetual hunger and extreme poverty! We have a one-of-a-kind model that is somewhat complex so we need a solid website that can explain it well.
Strikingly has made it very easy to update the website so we can publish and test the recommendations as they're made. Our volunteer will be a valuable teamplayer working alongside a responsive Executive Director. We love to highlight our volunteers in our volunteer-of-the-month program!

Nonprofit Overview

We help entrepreneurially-minded, female subsistence farmers access agricultural innovations and microfinance to lift themselves out of extreme poverty. Working alongside local government extension staff, we identify and competitively select women farming cooperatives who are the best and brightest and able to truly transform themselves, their families, and their communities, even while living marginally on $1 per day.
