Project Overview
We are searching for a volunteer who can lead our development of a new and improved mission and vision statement that will communicate our purpose and vision to a variety of stakeholders. Our ideal volunteer partner will be a creative communicator who is ready to dive into messaging strategy with our team!
We will work together to complete the project through three meetings in three weeks. The first meeting will be an opportunity for our team to provide you with a briefing on our core stakeholders and goals as an organization. We will provide the volunteer with our existing mission or value statement and orient the volunteer to discuss our current vision and the way we deliver on it through our programs. In our second meeting, the volunteer should present a first draft. We will provide feedback. We may work asynchronously for continued feedback, and in our final meeting together, the volunteer will deliver the final, copy-edited version.
We are ready-set-go on our way to improving our community and the world. We need help to ensure our mission and vision statements reflect our company’s goals and objectives. We want to put our best foot forward. We want our clients to know who we are and how we intend to help.
We will provide the volunteer with our existing mission, vision, or value statement plus other relevant background materials. Our organization has clearly defined stakeholders and will provide that information to our volunteer partner. We have a designated member of our team available to work with the volunteer on this project.
Nonprofit Overview
A Positive You's mission is to spread love through people-to-people partnerships to promote products and services that will assist individuals in attaining healthier minds, bodies, and spirits. A Positive You Nutrition and Food Store is a nonprofit business aimed at increasing the availability of healthy food options and proper nutrition awareness in DeKalb County, Georgia.
Obesity is a significant challenge in DeKalb County. Approximately 30% of adults and 13% of high school students in the county are obese. Furthermore, 73.4% of adults and 79% of youth do not consume the recommended daily servings of fruits and vegetables, and 18.9% of adults reported no physical activity in the last 30 days. Obesity increases risks for cardiovascular disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis-related disabilities, and some cancers.
Chronic diseases are the leading cause of death among DeKalb residents. Cancer, cardiovascular disease, and respiratory disease are the top three leading causes of death in DeKalb County.
Our goal is to ensure residents of our community choose healthier food, beverages, and natural supplement options from their local health food store. In DeKalb County, there is a drastic need for stores that provide quick, healthy food choices, such as local farmer's markets, community gardens, home food production, and improved store stocks of raw fruits and vegetables.
A Positive You seeks to create a space where individuals can learn about healthy eating and plant-based solutions to achieve optimal whole health and well-being. More importantly, it is our goal to foster the love and support of one another to come together to support each other on our journey to better health.
