Project Overview
We are looking for a volunteer who can revise our employee handbook. We hope to partner with someone with a background in HR and/or operations to improve transparency and accountability by clarifying our employees’ legal rights and our policies, benefits, and other expectations for performance and conduct in an updated and expanded employee handbook. This project will contain the following activities:
-Conduct an audit of our existing policies, including reviewing our existing materials and asking any clarifying questions
-Identify policies that we should modify
-Help the ED with drafting language for new desired policies, including conflict of interest language specific to nonprofit donations and staff working for multiple arts organizations
-Finalize the handbook after receiving feedback from our Governance and Nominating Committee
PEBCC is moving from a founder-led organization into our next stage, and we want to develop stronger systems and frameworks to support long-term staff and new hires effectively.
We've got a wonderful place to work - and want to make sure our employees feel supported by clear policies and greater transparency so they can focus on creating music with the hundreds of young people we serve each year. You're passionate about making sure nonprofits have the guides they need for HR best practices and thriving workplaces. Will you transform our Employee Handbook so we can create harmony in the world?
To prepare, we've designated a team member to oversee the project. We'll provide you with our existing Employee Handbook, internal communications regarding employment policies, and any other employment policies we have in place. The volunteer should expect to spend 15-20 hours over 4-5 weeks.
