Project need

Since 1983, L'Arche Greater Washington D.C. has been providing a home for life to people with intellectual disabilities. For years, the dedicated support of our closest friends sustained our operations and allowed our community to thrive. Today, as demand for our services increases, we are beginning to establish a professionalized, pro-active fundraising program to meet these growing demands. We are seeking volunteers to lend their expertise in reviewing newly developed donor-facing fundraising materials and support our staff in professionally designing the beta versions of our fundraising collateral.

Building from a history of making annual requests for general support, our team has recently taken the next step of defining our programs by building narrative, logic models, goals, and measurement mechanisms for each of our programs. In addition to our ongoing requests for general operations support, we will begin to ask for upgrade gifts for specific programs and approach new corporate and foundation donors for specific program support. We seek the assistance of volunteers to transform our programmatic collateral from mock-ups in Word and Publisher to designed collateral that conveys the personality, professionalism, and spirit of our organization.

We would greatly appreciate the assistance of a volunteer willing to review five donor-facing "sales sheets" for our organization's various programs. We would appreciate a volunteer's input on look and feel, a review of the narrative from a marketing perspective, and their work in professionally designing each piece. Our core support is solid, our fundraising strategy is ambitious yet achievable, and our staff is motivated. What remains is the construction of tools to help communicate our mission to new donors. A volunteer contributing to this project would help to advance our organization's fundraising strategy significantly by arming our staff with the tangible tools that help to communicate our remarkable programs to new audiences. Well designed fundraising collateral will be the visible representation of the lives we touch everyday through our work building a community of people with and without intellectual disabilities who work together to live happy, full lives, and promote more inclusive, accepting communities. This project has the full support of the board and executive staff and one point of contact has been dedicated to managing this project and volutneer(s) generously devoting their time to bringing our designed collateral to fruition. Furthermore, the narrative, budgets, goals, photos, and all relevant data included in each piece of collateral has been approved, and mock-ups of each sales sheet have been provided as a starting point for the design volunteer. We will also provide a brand standards guide to support the design of the collateral materials. We welcome the volunteer's creative input and look forward to his/her review expertise.

As soon as the design work of each sales sheet is completed it will be approved by the executive staff and immediately used for fundraising efforts.
