Website maintainance - WordPress
My organization was selected for this past weekend national 48in48 website design for select nonprofits. My website was redesigned by the 48in48 volunteer project team in 48 hours using WordPress. We at VIP are new at using WordPress (we used Weebly--a simple web design tool) to maintain our website. Now that we're transitioning to a new platform, I'm seeking short-term expert volunteer help to "hold" our hands and guide us in the basics of WordPress and how to do the behind-the-scenes things needed to maintain our site. We have a new and beautifully laid out redesigned website but VIP's "webmaster"-- a board member and I are novices in WordPress and need help getting up to speed to maintain the new site. We think that we are quick learners and can benefit from a "calm and reassuring" coach to give us confidence and guide us in this short transition phase so that we become budding WordPress pros in no time. Who wants to become our champion? We'd love to have you. The website will be officially launched by 48in48 in a few days and turned over to us. Now what? Do we just admire what we see with no idea about how it was created and what it takes to refine, edit, and add to the great work that's been started? We have the willingness to learn but are clueless at this point so all we have to bring is an open mind, lots of additional media, blogs, news stories, a new online store to launch to sell some of our new products and other resources requested by our volunteer.
To enhance the quality of life for village communities in rural Liberia through service and education projects. As the Village Improvement Project (VIP) launches its service to rural village communities in Liberia, we, the members of the Village Improvement Project, remain dedicated to our mission. Our dedication, concern, money, and time given to the well being of residents of rural communities are and will continue to be, constant. While working alongside other dedicated volunteers, we have abundant opportunities to enrich our own lives through volunteer work while enriching the lives of those we intend to impact. There are many areas through which this can be accomplished.
Overall, VIP will become involved in programs concerning women, children, literacy, health, and the environment in rural communities in Liberia.
Through our health program, villagers will be informed about prevalent medical problems affecting children and adults such as malaria, and will be encouraged to adopt methods for optimizing their own physical health and quality of life; and through our “eliminate the darkness” campaign, villagers will be encouraged to replace kerosene lamps with solar lanterns and open-fire cooking method with cleaner burning rocket stoves.
