Human Rights Connected
Website development - Wordpress
Last summer, we worked with a team of designers to develop a prototype for our new website. We're looking for a team of developers to build our new website. We’ve have been working hard on this project, and could definitely benefit from some extra help!
Some new features of our Wordpress website include a searchable library of documents, links and resources (organizations, law resources, activist toolkit), a blog, templates for our action guides and more.
Our website will be built with responsive design and we want to put extra attention on SEO optimizations and accessibility.
Overall, we're looking for volunteers experienced with web development, HTML, CSS, PHP and Wordpress development, Git version control, and Linux or macOS operating systems. Human Rights Connected (HRC) works to increase access to human rights and its legal framework for the rights defenders who promote and protect human rights. Our website is essential to our mission: It provides a user-driven platform for human rights defenders to connect, share knowledge and concrete resources related to their struggles. Our resource library compiles organizations and initiatives, legal resources and nonviolent action tools to help rights defenders leverage the proper resources for more effective activism.
This new design brings us closer to realizing our vision to act as a one-stop resource for activists and organizers worldwide. As developers, you can help bring this vision to life. Our tech team has been hard at work beginning the process of implementing the new website design via Wordpress. They've created static pages, built the user interface for our resource library and are continuing to build out the new website.
Our entire org works remotely, so we’re skilled in the independent initiative and team accountability required in successfully executing this kind of project! We meet weekly with the whole team, and tech team members meet multiple times a week to connect on progress, troubleshoot issues, etc.
Human Rights Connected (HRC) works to increase access to the understanding of human rights and its legal framework through knowledge and resource-sharing that can be utilized by human rights defenders around the world.
