Global Green USA, NYC Office
Geographic information system research
We're looking for a volunteer with a background in research, GIS, urban planning and/or design to help us identify GIS-based strategies for mapping community assets and challenges across 4 topic areas - energy, stormwater, waste/recycling and transit. The volunteer deliverable will preferably be an approximately 10 slide deck, or it can also be a 1-2 page word document. Global Green takes a community-based approach to neighborhood planning, aimed at educating and empowering local residents on how to take action to help their communities adapt and respond to local climate change impacts. We're hosting a series of workshops in 4 cities/neighborhoods this year and we're seeking to work with local residents to co-create designs and maps for improved sustainability and resilience in their neighborhoods. The project has been completed thus far in 30 cities. A summary of work with past cities and the organization's broader climate resilience efforts can be found here:
We're now seeking to improve the mapping component specifically, and learn from best practices used by other cities.
For 20 years, Global Green USA has been a national leader in advancing smart solutions to climate change that improve lives and protect our planet.
