What's a Scopeathon
A half-day event where a team of skilled volunteers works with a nonprofit to identify root causes to challenges and translate solutions into an actionable scope of work.
Who Should Apply?
Professionals with at least 3-5 years practice in variety of functional areas(business planning/strategy, human resources, finance, etc.) who can donate a half day’s time (12pm - 4pm EDT). Please indicate your area of expertise in your interest statement. Taproot will utilize that information to match volunteers to small teams who’s skills align with the needs of the participating organizations. We aim to have volunteers confirmed and match to specific project teams by early April.
Porticus and Taproot strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals, including individuals with disabilities, to engage fully. Activity Overview
A ScopeAThon is a free virtual half-day event in which pro bono consultants work with nonprofits to help the organization identify the root cause of a critical challenge and help to build an actionable plan to to tackle that challenge.

At the event, groups of volunteers will work with the nonprofit to:
- Diagnose the specific root cause of the challenge
- Identify the possible project or services needed
- Draft a specific scope of work that outlines the needed steps for the organization to address the challenge, where applicable, highlighting areas which can be supported by skilled volunteers
