I'm looking for a data scientist, or someone with experience in the domain of analyzing data using software systems to analyze thousands of letters for various information that can help me receive funding. For example, I would like both interesting anecdotes from students to be surfaced for me from key words, and I would also like the ability to analyze various trends in the data. For example, I would like to know if there is reason to believe my trainings are helping students understand key issues related to addiction, and if so, would like to know how often that is occurring. The data I have collected is in the form of both typed letters, some surveys, and over a thousand letters that were hand written. My nephew, who is a computer scientist, but has little data analytics background, has performed OCR on many of the letters through a hand writing recognition service, and is available to help consult on anything related to the project. The hand writing recognition is not complete at this point, there are still hundreds of letters to recognize, and any methods for improving the quality of the written results would be greatly appreciated.
Colorado ranks in the top 10 with the use/abuse of drugs by teens. A volunteer's contribution will help create a one of a kind program that long term will help funders and schools. Funders and ACT on Drugs need better insight into learning how our trainings have an impact on students.
A volunteer has already written a code to help transcribe written letters from students. Once the project is completed ACT can process the 1000's of letters received each year from students regarding the impact of our trainings. This info will then be used to show our impact to potential funders, and gain knowledge regarding the impact on students as well as guide any changes to be more effective with content.
