Project Overview

Our organization needs assistance with setting up our 2020 Annual Budget. We are looking for the best way to factor in the value of in-kind donations as well as pro bono volunteer assistance received. We need to learn how to create budgets for grants and require assistance with auditing our previous finances, as well as setting up monthly financial statements and working with Quickbooks for Nonprofits.
This project will help further our mission by showing our grant worthiness to potential funders in the coming fiscal year. Our organization has been very grassroots in our mission and completely volunteer-run at this point and maintained off of small monetary donations and grants but primarily we have been receiving product donations to remain in operation. We need to show our sustainability as our mission to provide clean basic hygiene supplies to low-income families in the Western New York community.
Over the last year, we have made significant steps to make sure that our business structure is in place to compete for more diverse grant opportunities. We have incorporated our nonprofit, registered with NYS Charities Bureau, established our board documents and began restructuring our board of directors.
This project is important because our work is important to families especially in low-income communities, as we are providing necessary basic needs supplies. One in three families across the nation experience diaper need and as a result of COVID-19, that has increased to families that are now dealing with the need associated with maintaining those supplies. We want to make sure that we are aligned properly to help these families and open up opportunities for assistance in other areas, such as food, shelter, employment, and counseling. It is important that we identify and address these basic needs.
We have been working to set up an infrastructure to support growth. We have received pro-bono support from Salesforce to create a database to capture our work, collaborating with volunteers and donors as well as clients. We are building our Board of Directors to meet our everchanging needs as an organization. We plan to implement the project by soliciting support from the community, grant funders and donors to continue to show support to raise awareness on diaper need. We have started a mobile pantry to help families that may not be able to get to the center that we distribute out of.

Nonprofit Overview

The mission of Every Bottom Covered is to ensure that families, no matter of the biological make-up have an adequate supply of diapers for their infants and toddlers; to raise community awareness that “basic human needs” include diapers and baby related products and that these needs are not being met for children living in poverty; and to advocate for policy reform so that diapers and baby related products are included in the definition of and provision for the “basic human needs” of families.
