Project Overview

CLA is looking for a Development Volunteer. The Development Volunteer will focus on grant research and writing. The Volunteer's activities will primarily include identifying grants for which CLA may be competitive and successful in applying.

CLA is a very small nonprofit with two dedicated female attorneys. We have applied for grants in the past and have been awarded a few small grants every year but have been unable to secure larger grants to help us grow and expand. It seems to be a "chicken and egg" situation where we're too small to get big grants, but we can't grow without big grants. We have many projects we want to implement, but our current model is becoming unsustainable.

CLA has successfully applied for small grants and held in-person fundraising events. For each of those grants, we did a lot of prep work and have materials/templates ready to tweak and improve. If we can secure more funding we can use a portion to put systems in place to replicate in the future, either by hiring per diem or project-based staff.
