Project Overview

Are you enthusiastic about finance and eager to gain practical experience in streamlining bookkeeping processes? Are you skilled at gathering insights from key stakeholders to make impactful decisions? If so, we have an exciting volunteer opportunity for you!

As our organization grows, we recognize the importance of leveraging technology to optimize our financial operations through automation. We're seeking a knowledgeable volunteer to lead the discovery and design process for automating our nonprofit's Financial Planning. You will implement accounting software, bank feeds, document management systems, and workflow automation tools. Deliverables will include automating the bank reconciliation process and assisting in preparing documentation as well as organizing financial records for audits or reviews by external auditors.

If you're passionate about making a difference and have the skills to help us streamline our financial processes, we'd love to have you on board! We ideally want the project to kick off in the spring and wrap up by August of 2024.

At our core, we believe that change begins with action, and that's where you come in. Our project is dedicated to empowering underserved communities and driving forward positive socioeconomic change. But we can't do it alone – we need your help to turn our vision into reality. Joining the PYTF team will provide skilled professionals with the opportunity to strengthen their expertise, make an impact, and build relationships and networks that can extend beyond the project scope and duration, potentially landing them their next opportunity.

Over the last year, we have provided 27 loans totaling $43,127 to minority borrowers, 65% of them studying in the following target markets: DC, Virginia, and Maryland. Of our pipeline of 102 borrowers, 70% of them are members of our trademark/imprint. We have made several preparations for the implementation of the project:

1. We've conducted a needs assessment and gathered our financial records.
2. We've allocated time and financial resources that include senior-level staff with project management assistance willing to assist volunteers in facilitating the completion of the project.
3. We've established partnerships and collaboration.
4. We've implemented communication strategies and engaged key stakeholders.

Through monitoring, evaluation, and sustainability planning, we've forecasted the successful implementation of the project.

Nonprofit Overview

At PYTF, we are dedicated to empowering underserved communities through innovative financial solutions. We strive to make higher education accessible and sustainable, recognizing the significant funding gaps that hinder many low to moderate-income undergraduate students from starting, staying in, and completing their degrees. Research indicates that financial obstacles account for 50% of the reasons why low-income students fail to complete their degrees. Our vision is to reshape the socioeconomic landscape by ensuring equitable access to education. Through our Student Loanership product offering—a unique blend of loan and scholarship—we connect families and banks to groundbreaking financing solutions. By harnessing technology and data, we bridge the higher education funding gap. Our program not only revolutionizes the scholarship industry but also places a strong emphasis on student advocacy, championing the financial interests, needs, and overall well-being of students. Join us in collaborating with students like you to forge a future where educational equity is universal, and every scholar has the resources to thrive, alongside student-driven initiatives.
