Project Overview

Help our nonprofit sift through important data, extract key insights, and visualize takeaways!

This project involves analyzing data from the NAACLS Annual Survey of Laboratory Science Educational Programs to derive insights and trends. The last survey analysis is located here: https://naaclsnews.org/2023/08/16/ceos-corner-findings-from-the-2022-annual-survey/

This volunteer project will include:
1. Data Cleaning and Preparation:
o Extract and import survey data from Alchemer into a secure data analysis tool.
o Ensure privacy by de-identifying information.
o Organize data into a structured format for analysis and remove inconsistencies.

2. Analysis of Data:
o Calculate summary statistics for key variables like graduation rates and certification pass rates.
o Create visually appealing charts, graphs, and histograms to identify patterns.
o Compare the data across program types, institutions, and regions to identify variations and disparities.

3. Reporting and Visualization:
o Create a comprehensive report with clear data visualizations to facilitate understanding in a clear and compelling manner

4. Optional (After completion of the above items):
o Utilize new survey questions to identify resource gaps in the laboratory science field.
Assist programs in comparing their resources and suggest improvements based on best practices.
o Suggest improvements to the newly added questions to ensure we ask for the data we want.
o Consider predictive modeling to forecast future trends.

The project’s goal is to leverage the survey data in the NAACLS community and provide valuable insights to inform policy decisions, secure resources, and support program improvement efforts within the laboratory science field.

Join us in our mission to analyze and derive insights from the NAACLS Annual Survey of Laboratory Science Educational Programs. Our project offers a unique opportunity to dive deep into data and contribute to meaningful change in healthcare and education both.
Here's what you'll be doing:
1. Data Cleaning and Preparation: You'll be the wizard behind the scenes, extracting and organizing survey data into a structured format. Your attention to detail will ensure privacy by de-identifying information and removing inconsistencies.
2. Analysis of Data: Get ready to crunch numbers and uncover hidden gems! Calculate summary statistics, create captivating visuals, and compare data across program types, institutions, and regions to reveal important trends and disparities.
3. Reporting and Visualization: Your storytelling skills will shine as you craft a comprehensive report with clear and compelling data visualizations. Your work will make complex information easy to understand and act upon.
4. Optional Tasks: Take it to the next level by utilizing new survey questions to identify resource gaps, suggest improvements based on best practices, and even explore predictive modeling to forecast future trends.

By volunteering for this project, you'll be providing valuable insights to the laboratory science field to help them inform policy decision-makers, secure educational resources, and support program improvement efforts within the laboratory.

We have all of the survey data back from our programs. We will need to work together to de-identify the information and export it to a format that is usable for the volunteers to play with. The information will be used to update all of our programs, similar to this:
