Project Overview

Our nonprofit needs support crafting a templated communications plan. We hope to use this framework for future program initiatives and fundraising events.

We need your expertise to communicate big moments for our nonprofit clearly, concisely, and consistently. We are looking for a skilled communications professional to:
-Create a checklist to guide your organization through the who, what, when, and how of sharing program updates, internal shifts, or responses to current events
-This checklist should pull in all the various channels that our nonprofit should use to reach staff, users, clients, volunteers, or funders so we have a standardized plan for outreach
-The templated communications plan should take into account our current marketing tools and staff availability

This project should take from 12-24 hours to complete. We're hopeful that our volunteer partner will share 2-5 hours of their time per week.Operation Period trains, builds power with, and shifts resources to other young people fighting for menstrual freedom in their communities.

In the past 9 years, the organization has:
* Trained over 40 youth activists
* Successfully helped to advocate for gender-inclusive language in the federal Menstrual Equity for All Act
* Created and distributed menstrual health education to thousands of students and other folks in need
* Built power with other young organizers through programming like our Reading for the Revolution book club and digital political education series
* Distributed over 300,000 menstrual products through our network of school chapters in Oregon, California, Texas, New Jersey, and Utah
* Launched the Youth Institute for Menstrual Freedom last year that is training, mentoring, and providing seed funding for ten inaugural fellows in the class of 2023-24 and their community projects -- ranging from creating short-form content to taking on the Don't Say Period law in Florida
* Named the month of May as International Period Month (IPM) in 2021 and have since celebrated with 100+ events every year

Operation Period would love to collaborate for IPM on this project!

To prepare for the creation of this communications checklist, we have taken stock of existing PR and social media tactics that have worked well for our team in the past.
