We are a small, start up nonprofit organization. We have been meeting with local leaders about how to start our fundraising strategy, but we have several questions about how to set a fundraising strategy and where to start. We find ourselves a bit tied in knots - do we start with an email/community campaign? An event? Several events? What is the order of operations (build our board, adopt a CRM, host events, grants vs. individual donations, etc.)? Should we consider engaging a fundraising consultant - how you find, how you pay? It would be great to talk through our ideas with someone and see what their thoughts on regarding our first steps as well as whether there is potential for a larger Taproot project to help us create a more structured fundraising strategy and plan.
