Session Overview
The Gardening Association of North Carolina is an all-volunteer 501c3 membership nonprofit in the process of a dramatic transformation. Our new mission is: To inspire, connect, and empower North Carolinians to create healthy, sustainable home and community environments through gardening.
We have existed for over 30 years as an organization that was aligned with and supported the work of North Carolina State University Cooperative Extension's Master Gardener Program (NCCE) by serving ONLY those program members. Our formal arrangement with NCCE required us to use their service marked names, terms, and branding in as a condition of that relationship. Our mission/services were focused on providing advanced level gardening education to Master Gardeners, as well as monetary grants and awards for their programs.
As of July 7, 2023, NCCE terminated that relationship, prohibiting us from appearing to have a relationship with or support their program in any way. Although a radical change, our org sees a tremendous opportunity to continue to serve the residents of our state by providing gardening education from beginner to advanced levels. Since we have been known for over 30 years as the state Master Gardener Association and have 490 members who are Master Gardeners, we need to rebrand and build a new business plan that retains current members and expands our audience to members of the public. We currently operate virtually.
