Session Overview
We are a small NGO 501c3 that is looking to grow and expand the infrastructure of our organization on a limited budget. One are of significant personnel need is donor engagement/fundraising. I am looking for advice regarding how to best approach this. It has been suggested by others in the industry that it might be possible to hire a part-time entry-level employee but have a more experienced skilled volunteer help supervise the specific activities of that employee to make their efforts most effective. I am hoping to discuss this and other options for getting help in this area.
Nonprofit Overview
To change lives by expanding access to surgical care worldwide.
We founded Global Surgical Expedition eleven years ago because we believe it is unacceptable that 30 to 50 percent of the world’s population lacks access to basic surgical care. It is not all right that a significant percentage of deaths in these countries could be prevented by routine surgeries that you and I take for granted.
Global Surgical Expedition is a 501c3 NGO that delivers surgeries to underserved people throughout the world. We have now surpassed 500 surgeries in Central America and Africa, in addition to over 1400 patients treated. We have built a dedicated group of medical volunteers, with over 40 physicians, nurses, technicians, and therapists participating in our trips. And, at a cost of less than $1000 per surgery provided, we are very proud of how cost-effective we have been able to deliver this care.
But, we are proud to have a much bigger vision and related goals than simply providing surgery. We do this through a commitment to our 4 pillars for surgical care: providing surgeries and surgical infrastructure, performing global surgery research, advocacy, and global surgery education to surgical residents and students. Through this broad approach, we can make a much bigger impact.
