Center for Arts-Inspired Learning
Board development strategy
I would like help improving my Board's engagement with our organization's mission. For example, creating a strategy to improve event and fundraising benefit attendance, as well as recruiting within Board members' networks for donations or joining the Board. There are currently 21 members and I would like to grow that to 33 over the next 3-4 years. This number would provide a consistent stream of annual fund dollars, expertise on a variety of issues we are facing and stability for the organization. I have been with the organization for 25 years. Initially, Board members joined because they believed in the mission of CAL and the impact on kids. Unfortunately, while that belief has continued at a cognitive level, we could use help with creating the emotional connection necessary to make our Board motivated to use their networks in support of CAL. The work of the organization is vital to the community and we have made an impact on kids lives and futures. We have a dedicated staff to ensure the completion of this project. Over the years, Board recruitment materials have been developed, a system is in place for recruitment, and there is an active Board Development committee. The Board is committed to increasing the size of the Board but thinks it lacks the community connections.
