Project need

"Money, Blood and Conscience" is a new novel that raises awareness of Ethiopia's human rights crisis--former Amnesty International director Jack Healey calls it the "Uncle Tom's Cabin of the 21st century" for its stark account of contemporary evil. We need an experienced and well-connected PR pro to publicize the book. You'll know better than we do what has to be done, but we imagine it will require securing author interviews in traditional and online media, getting book bloggers and reviewers to review the book and, possibly, submitting the author and/or the book for various awards. General knowledge of literature is helpful. Writing/correspondence/email skills are also important.
The book's website is Ethiopia recently had a human rights revolution (for which the author was a senior strategist), but millions of Ethiopians are still starving while their former leaders continue to steal desperately-needed billions every year. Help educate the public about this holocaust. If you're looking to make a difference, this project's for you.

Organization's mission

Free World Associates is a 30-year old unincorporated network of human rights and democracy promotion activists. Our mission is to promote global peace and economic development by helping closed societies become more democratic, transparent and accountable. We are working with Taproot on 3 projects:

1. "Money, Blood and Conscience" is a novel that aims to bring to public attention Ethiopia’s human rights crisis. A for-profit social enterprise, proceeds will support our pro bono democracy promotion work.

2. Operation Conscience is a social impact campaign to raise awareness of genocides committed by the Ethiopian government.

3. World Liberation Radio aims to test if the basic ideas of nonviolence can be taught to oppressed populations around the world by radio. It is fiscally sponsored by the Social Good Fund, Inc., a 501c3.
